Kaneki was cheering not only his friends but all of the other Mato High Students that was also participating.
Because apparently he was the only Mato High Student that ended up in the first round.

Kaneki's Grandparents then came up to him and upon seeing them Kaneki immediately got more happy.
Kaneki: So what did you two think of my performance?
Shiori: Hehe~ I'll be honest dear I was very surprised.
Haruto: That's right! You even turned into a Kitsune!
Shiori: Not only that, you were even able to use the power of the Demon Knights!

The girls were utilizing their Relics and Weapons that Kaneki provided them.

Chikao used the web gun to immobilize many of their enemies, followed by Shino and Miku who used their Venom and Poisoned tipped Swords to paralyze their enemies.
Then Yuuka charged at all of the paralyzed enemies using her shield which made a construct of a Rhinoceros Beetle and sent them all flying to the sky.
And ending it off with Sachi catching them all with the Dragon Scythe one by one and throwing them to Natsuki who was dealing the finishing blows.

Kaneki was very pleased to see his friends actually standing a fight against their enemies.

Kaneki: Anyways im going to get some drinks, you two want anything?

Kaneki then left his Grandparents to go get some drinks.

As Kaneki was thinking about what drink he is going to get for himself.
