There was a strange and bitter look that appeared on Aisha's face when I said this, but at least it didn't seem like she was going to refute what I said.
Though it also didn't seem like she was going to completely accept what I said either.
With the way that she looked at me, it was clear that she was conflicted about these words.
But I didn't waste any time as I turned around to look at the elder before asking, "I agree with you that she is a terrible mother, but that doesn't mean that she hasn't been putting in the effort to become a better person. If you ignore that effort, then you're no different from her to your own child. All you'll be left with is regret."
There was a part of the elder's smile that turned bitter after hearing this, but she didn't let it affect her too much as she focused on Aisha.
The way that she looked at her was as if she was expectant of her reaction.
