Mila sighed softly, the weight of reality settling in once more. "Then… it's impossible after all?"
"No," Allen said firmly. "Not impossible. Just complicated."
Vivian, sensing the intensity had eased somewhat, turned back around. She offered Mila a supportive smile.
Mila glanced at Vivian. Despite their unusual dynamic, Vivian had never been unkind or cold.
"I think Allen is right," Vivian added gently. "Taking things slow or opening up negotiations between families—both require patience. Neither is simple. But either one can eventually work if we handle them carefully."
Mila nodded slowly, absorbing their words. "You're both right. But… waiting feels so frustrating."
Allen chuckled quietly, the sound soothing in its steadiness. "Believe me, I get it. But impatience won't speed things along. Sometimes, you just need the right timing. The right opportunity."
