ARIANNE POV
Soon enough the meeting was dismissed. Langmore and Remington were going to get what was coming to them easy. It was death! The crime they committed was unforgivable and for that it was a death sentence. I was so glad the council agreed with me as they pledged their undying loyalty to me. After they were all gone and the chaos died down, I relished in the quietness.
I stood in the middle of the throne room, sword still in hand as I drew in a deep breath. The rich scent of polished wood and the lingering tang of sweat from my earlier victory filled the air. The sunlight streaming through the stained-glass windows cast fractured rainbows on the marbled floor, and for a moment, I allowed myself the luxury of basking in the weight of my accomplishments.
