Chapter 3 - Study hard

One year later

I have graduated.

A year has passed since Wulin went to the East sea city's Donghai academy (Eastsea Academy). Looks the like Trio will meet and form the advance something class because of their talents.

Wulin's parents have also left their home and now I live there. It was for free, they left without selling it. The house is still on their name though since they left it for Wulin when he comes.

Hence I live here now.

The house was empty and their was no owner, so I packed my stuff from my old shared room to this house since the matron and ai had some falling out the past year due to my decision to fail and stay at the academy. We will not talk about this.

Completely unrelated I also gathered the info on the criminal gangs of Glorybound City in the past year. It was actually easy since people only hide things from the police and officials. Among each other and the general public, they don't.

To be fair, criminal gangs actually announced their doings as a fear tactics and that's good for me.

As previously calculated, I have reached level 10 long ago(two weeks ago). I also found that my cultivation speed was faster than my peers in the same innate soul power level. I am around 1% faster than them according to my calculations. I can't remember know tough maths now but that doesn't mean I have no wisdom.

After finding this out though, I wish I haven't tried. This was a waste of time.

The only nuisance to me is that I don't have enough money to buy my Spirit Soul to advance my cultivation or if will be the same as last year.

I don't even have my previous 5 grands of Federal credits anymore since I spent it all on buying various herbs, fruits, vegetables, grains, roots, grass, and plants and stuff.

No need to worry though. I would have a lot of it in a few hours. A lot~

I should stop with this.

A few hours later

Some bar in Glorybound City

A suave looking man was sitting on the second floor of the bar, looking at the list in his hand and smiling from ear to ear. The man drank some of his high class imported wine while looking at the door for someone. The floor was fitted with noise cancelling soul devices making it a good place to hold deals and "stuff".

After sometime, the door opened and a small boy entered.

"Everything ready?" He asked.

"It is. But never in my dreams would I have thought about this. You are a genius kid. Really vicious," replied the man, taking a sip of his drink.

He was a famous information broker and illegal "service" provider from the Glorybound City and a few hours ago.... doom came his way.

A kid came to his office and recounted a plan that could make him the richest man in Glorybound City.

The words spoken enticed him. Although there were some reservations, those ended with a few practical demonstrations.

"But you have to ensure that the accounts will not be able to be traced back "

The child has asked in return. Something so simple, he can grant it anytime.

The man had agreed. A deal so fruitful he will never have to worry about wealth again. He would just leave for another continent and lavishly live there.

"I hope we succeed." [Broker]

"We will," said the kid with a smile of his own. A smile that he seldom had.

Back to Present

Chaos insurged in the Glorybound City, unknown to all and known to few and far between.

All the gangs in Glorybound City were in a dire situation. They were poisoned. All of them were. To even their parents to the maids, none were spared.

The poison was vicious one. It didn't kill immediately but caused severe vomiting and diarrhea making it impossible to ingest any kind of relief meditation that they could find.

Hope the doctors can do anything.

Fifteen minutes later

Many gang members who were poisoned were in a critical situation and the first death occurred.

At that time, all of them received a call demanding for 30 million Alliance coins from each of them.

Five minutes later. Around 20 more died.

Some time later, they gave up and proceeded with the demand. Once one of them did, the rest followed soon and were informed that the antidote was already delivered to them in the daytime as delivery.

....

"You are a genius kid . Now die," the information broker showed his true colours.

He suddenly started vomiting blood as his body fell down

"..."

"Huh...?"

"What did you do to me? " Asked the broker in despair. He could feel his legs.

"Poisoned you. Now tranfer all the money to this account and I will give you the antidote."

"In you dreams!"

The man screamed as he tried to lunge at the boy. He couldn't. He tried hard. He tried a lot. He tried to move and even screamed at his guards. Three minutes and a lot of writhing later he transferred it as no one had come to save him. He was all alone. There was no one who would save him. He had no choice but to obey whatever he was told.

I passed the antidote and he hastily drank it and died.

I looked at the bank account that I had him create and now my fake account has more than 180 million Federal credits.

I took one final glance at his dissolving body and left the bar.

Humans never change.

Glory to the Mother Earth that Cyanide and Arsenic are available here in this world as well. I was going to use the Apples for Cyanide but I found both of them in the ore market.

I needed a whole five months to obtain 1 kg of Cyanide and 600 grams of Arsenic from their unrefined forms. Then two months to devise this strategy, and create this specific breach of poison and in those quantities and after all the efforts that I have put in, I am successful.

Perseverance is indeed the key.

For those of who don't know, I am Fan Lin. I am a child of wonders.

I should stop with the jokes. This one was funny though.

This was a reckless plan though.

I got a guy, rope him in, after that I use him to poison the gang members water supply and their food. Then I mix poison in his drink and made the waiter deliver it a few hours ago. Make sure that he drank it without doubt. After a while, long while, I appear in front of him and ask him to start the plan. I wait for him to be completely poisoned, but I underestimated the physical qualities of the soul masters.

I should have put two drops.

I had to extend the time and despite the hiccups it was a success but I am terrified of my incompetence. If the poisoning was just a little late then I would have to use other harmful poisons and my current body might die as well. As well. It's a probable situation.

Luck was on my side this time but it won't be on my next. I hope I am not justifying this as a reason to create more potent and stronger toxins.

*Sigh*

My legs are shivering from anger first then excitement later and finally with numbness at the end as I have been walking the whole day without rest and I am unnecessarily weak for someone of my level. Being a rank 10 soul master that is.

Enough of the critisism for now. I got the money and I will not need to earn for a long, long time. Probably even in my advanced schooling.

I have no reason to do this again but deep down I knew I definitely will, since earning money like this was the easiest.

Always had been.

I am doing it for the money.

The next day

Glorybound City was in an uproar. Last night all the criminal gangs had somehow died from poisoning. Not even those illegal brokers and others were spared.

A total of 1569 people had died. The authorities, having a first of their lives, didn't know how to proceed with the situation and has thus been blaming each other while avoiding responsibility.

It hasn't even been a day and to expect an answer out of them in such a short notice, the public must think the authorities were wizards or something.

But the matter had spiralled out of their control. 1569 people had been murdered in one night and the perpetrators haven't even been identified!

The question wasn't even that murders happened, it was 'how can such a thing happen in the jurisdiction of the relevant authorities?'

It was like a slap in the face of the system and its assurance that it safeguards the public.

Faced with such a sudden information of the anonymity of the deaths and in fear of the worst case scenario, the Federation sent many of their best officers from the headquarters to check on the situation.

If things are as they fear, they might have to start a new hunt for a newly awakened Evil Soul Master again, and if not, they had to at least show that they are doing something and appease the masses before the Evil Soul Masters use this opportunity to wreak more havoc.

Regardless to say, this also opened a lot of opportunities for everyone.

....

While the Glorybound City was in chaos, I was on a train to Eastcoast city which I had reserved two weeks ago. No one can doubt a traumatized looking gloomy kid, more so when the news of the incident haven't even been made public at that moment of the train departure.

My train ride was smooth. Unlike my life. Sometimes I hate how self aware I was as a child.

I was able to safely reach the East coast City within a few hours. This city was beautiful. It reminds me of my country, this rush, this cramped up situation where you don't even know whose hands you are touching. This exciting experience, I enjoyed it after a long time.

I am sick!

....

Eastsea City.

This was the second largest seaside city in the Sun-Moon Federation. Its main feature was its port, which served as a nexus for travelling the seas and exploiting the resources of the ocean.

The city had a base population of over three million people. By exploiting the natural resources in the ocean, the city was able to prosper. Even when compared to the rest of the Sun-Moon Federation, it could still be considered a second-tier city.

Eastsea City had a long history and its overall appearance had preserved its original state of a simple and unadorned style. In the last several hundred years, the Sun-Moon Federation had taken extra care to protect some of the more ancient buildings. Thus, many of the millennia old buildings could be found in this ancient city.

'Preserving Millenia old things? What about hundred thousand year old things?'

Ignoring my thoughts, I went to security to get a general gist of the directions, just like Wulin had done.

"Do you forget your glasses at home child? There, just watch the city map hung there and go own your way." One of the gaurds said while pointing towards a big map near the station.

I looked behind. I really didn't see that. Okay~

I turned to look at the guards.

"What happened?"

One of them asked, fear creeping his voice.

"I wonder."

I said and left.

"Creepy kid!"

'I heard that.'

I turned around again, locking my eyes with theirs.

"Wha-what do you want?"

They looked away. I am getting angry at something stupid. I am angry though.

"I will study hard, join the administration and demote you to the absolute north."
