Brandon Piers grabbed little Teddy and pulled him into his arms with one hand. "Looks like our Teddy missed his dad."
"Papa! Papa! Papa!" Teddy, who hadn't been held by his dad for a long time, looked very excited, his pronunciation all jumbled up.
Even Brandon, who was usually stone-hearted toward his son, melted at Teddy's calls of "Papa." He lowered his head and nuzzled his son's chubby little cheek with his chin.
Teddy was tickled by his dad, laughing uncontrollably, full of joy.
Brandon saw this and proudly raised his eyebrow at Abigail.
Abigail found it childish but didn't hurrying to take Teddy home.
Old Mr. Smith shot a disdainful look at his grandson, motioned for Abigail to sit down, then ordered Housekeeper Piers to prepare dinner. Only then did he ask Abigail about the afternoon's events.
