The two walked in the forest for what felt like hours. The sky above was now clear.
"It feels... too quiet here. How long have we been out here?" Andrew asked.
Amora reached for her phone, but it wasn't there. "Hm, no clue, my phone's gone, so I can't check. It'd probably been an hour since we'd been out... but where was everyone anyway? There was nobody on the bus." she said, still puzzled.
"No clue about that either. Maybe they got flung further away? I'm sure they're okay if we were..." He said reassuringly, but it wasn't very reassuring to Amora, who could only picture the worst, especially with Shirley.
They reached another road and passed by a town sign and Amora recognized it instantly.
"Isn't this the town where Leon and Reyon grew up in?"
Andrew stopped to think for a moment before answering.
"I'm pretty sure it is... how strange. I guess lightning can and will strike the same tree twice."
Amora quite liked that answer, but not that she now was lost with Andrew.
"More like a tornado of the same power hitting the same town twice..."
The two continued walking, following the road but remaining on the grassy side of the road leading toward the city.
After walking for quite a while, Andrew is abruptly flung forward, landing into a hard roll on the grass. He tries to pick himself back up quickly, but before he can pull himself to his knees, he is held down by a dark being. The creature's free arm morphed into a dark blade, gently pressing into the side of Andrew's head.
Amora rushed over and bumped the creature, causing them to stumble and release their grip on Andrew. Now that the creature was standing still, Amora could tell who he was. Darkness, her adoptive father. She stood in front of Andrew, attempting to protect him despite having no weapons or elements at her disposal.
"Amora." He speaks, his voice strict yet somewhat compassionate. "You need to come with me. Your life is in danger; this boy is a threat to you."
Amora did not move out of the way; she instead held out her hand unknowingly, almost instinctually. Her palm began to heat up and burn, spreading to her fingers and entire hand. The burn was tingly, getting hotter and hotter as if her hand would explode at any moment.
Fire burst forth from her hand directly at Darkness. The blast from which sent him flying backward, slamming him against a tree. Amora's hand continued bursting fire uncontrollably, setting the area aflame. Andrew pulled Amora to the ground as a branch swung at her, and her hand stopped blasting flames.
"The trees..." he stopped, having inhaled some smoke. "...are falling! We..." he became silent abruptly, seemingly having passed out from the smoke inhalation.
She attempted to crawl out of the way as a branch fell, but it was too late. The branch covered her and Andrew, clashing against her face, before she could react, everything went dark.
Amora felt as though she drifted into a vast ocean. Warm water swirled around her, and all sound was muffled, she sank deeper... and deeper until the water began to turn a crimson red.
Amora opened her eyes, staring at the surface of the water above her, the sun shining upon its surface, just barely reaching her as she sank into the darkness of the ocean.
Somehow, she felt comforted, yet also so solitary, as if she were the only person left alive in the world. She wondered to herself if perhaps she had died, if that branch had killed her, or if maybe she burnt to death.
